Time to apply for the Carl-Johan Blomqvist Scholarship

It is again time to apply for the Carl-Johan Blomqvist Scholarship, which is awarded on the basis of applications to a person or group studying or otherwise promoting the transport industry in Finland and/or Sweden.

The scholarship is now open for applications until 25 November 2024 and will be awarded early next year to the selected recipient or recipients. The recipient of the scholarship is selected annually on the basis of applications received or according to the Scholarship Committee’s own choice of recipient even without an application. The criteria for receiving the scholarship are that the person(s) is/are studying for a profession/training in the transport sector or has/have otherwise made a significant contribution to promoting the transport sector and the awareness of it.

This is now the third year that this scholarship, which was established in connection with Powder-Trans’ 50th anniversary in 2022, will be awarded. In previous years, the scholarship has been awarded to students in driver, fitter and higher logistics training in both Finland and Sweden. In both previous years, a logistics training centre has also been rewarded so that they, in turn, could choose one of their students as the recipient.

Applications and justifications for receiving the scholarship must be submitted in accordance with the regulations on the Powder-Trans website, where also an application form can be found. The selection of the scholarship recipient(s) is made by a scholarship committee consisting of persons representing educational institutions in the transport industry, police authorities and other functions related to the transport industry and the media in the transport industry, as well as representatives of the company Powder-Trans and the Blomqvist family.

The Scholarship Committee, which will select this year’s scholarship recipients, will consist of the following persons: former Deputy Rector Juha Jokinen, Novida Vocational Institute, logistics trainer and former Chief Superintendent of Heavy Traffic Control Vesa Roima, Editor-in-Chief Jouni Hievanen, Ajolinja transport magazine, transport industry business advisor and member of the Powder-Trans Board of Directors Sture Holm, Managing Director Fredrik Blomqvist, HR director Christian Blomqvist and Chairman of the Board Carl-Johan Blomqvist.

The total amount of the scholarship is EUR 2 000, awarded as one or several scholarships once a year at the end of the year.
