Young people in logistics rewarded again

This year’s Carl-Johan Blomqvist Scholarship has been awarded to three students and one professional working in the logistics industry. The scholarship amount of €2,000 will be divided equally among the four recipients. The scholarship, which has been awarded every year since Powder-Trans’ 50th anniversary in 2022, has also in previous years been awarded to several people in the logistics industry in both Finland and Sweden.

This year’s recipients are Daniel Ezeagbor, Johanna Ylinen, Mikko Viljakainen and a person selected by the Novida vocational institute from among its students at its Lundo, Finland, campus.

Daniel Ezeagbor studies at Turun Ammatti-instituutti and Johanna Ylinen at Sataedu. They were awarded the scholarships to finance their studies. Mikko Viljakainen, who drives a truck and trailer combination for a transport company, makes popular videos about his work on TikTok as a hobby. He was awarded a scholarship to expand his recording equipment. Novida will decide on the recipient of the fourth scholarship at a later stage.

This was the fourth consecutive year that the Carl-Johan Blomqvist scholarship was awarded. In previous years, the scholarship has been awarded to students in driver, fitter and higher logistics training programmes in both Finland and Sweden. Also in previous years, a vocational school has been awarded the prize, enabling them to select one of their students in the logistics training programme as the recipient.

The scholarship recipients were selected by a scholarship committee consisting of representatives from transport sector educational institutions, police authorities, and other transport-related organizations, as well as representatives from the transport sector media and the Powder-Trans company and the owner family Blomqvist.
