Applications now open for the C-J Blomqvist Scholarship

In November it is once again time to apply for the Carl-Johan Blomqvist Scholarship in the transport and logistics sector. The deadline for applications is 1 December 2025. This year marks the fourth time the scholarship is awarded. Last year, the call for applications drew a record number of responses from both Finland and Sweden, and the scholarship was awarded to four students in the logistics field.

The Carl-Johan Blomqvist Scholarship was established in 2022 in connection with the 50th anniversary of the founding of Powder-Trans. Since then, awareness of the scholarship has increased and, ahead of the 2025 selection, the number of applications more than doubled compared with the 2024 round.

As in previous years, the scholarship is awarded to students in driver, fitter and higher logistics training in both Finland and Sweden. In 2023 and 2024, it was also awarded to an educational institution in the logistics sector, enabling it to choose one of its students as the recipient.

The scholarship amount is EUR 2,000, which may be awarded to one or several recipients. Applications, including a motivation statement, can be submitted via an application form on the Powder-Trans website. The call for applications will be open up until Monday, 1 December 2025. The scholarship will be awarded at the beginning of 2026 to the selected recipient(s). The recipient is selected on the basis of applications received or, at the discretion of the scholarship committee, even without an application. The scholarship is awarded to individuals who are in professional training in the transport sector or have otherwise made a significant contribution to promoting the transport sector and public knowledge about it.

Diverse committee behind the selection

As in previous years, the selection is made by a committee consisting of individuals representing educational institutions in the transport sector, police authorities, and other functions related to the transport sector, media within the sector, as well as representatives of Powder-Trans and the Blomqvist family. The committee for the 2025 selection consists of the following members: Juha Jokinen, former Deputy Rector of Novida Vocational Institute; Vesa Roima, logistics trainer and former Chief Superintendent of Heavy Traffic Control; Jouni Hievanen, Editor-in-Chief of the Ajolinja transport magazine; Sture Holm, transport industry business advisor and board member at Powder-Trans; and from the Blomqvist family: Powder-Trans CEO Fredrik Blomqvist, HR Director Christian Blomqvist, and Chairman of the Board Carl-Johan Blomqvist.
