The Powder-Trans Group achieved top results in the international SQAS quality system audit. The group achieved a score of 87 percent, which is well above the average for European companies. The average for all audited European companies is 76 %.
The SQAS audit supports Powder-Trans’ endeavours and objective to reduce emissions and improve the sustainable development of the entire business.
We are very pleased with the results of the audit and the score we achieved, says Quality Manager Juha Hietakari from Powder-Trans. Powder-Trans has had the SQAS system since 2008. The system is audited every three years.
SQAS is a system of uniform third-party assessments to evaluate the performance of logistics service providers and chemical distributors. SQAS assessments cover quality, safety, security, environment, and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). SQAS is not a certification system in the usual sense, but an assessment system that provides a detailed factual assessment report. SQAS assessment reports allow chemical companies to evaluate their logistics service providers according to their own standards and requirements.
The system is very comprehensive and includes, for example, in the field of safety, risk assessment, emergency preparedness, and personal protective equipment, as well as site security, supply chain security, and information security. In the field of environment, the assessment includes waste management, emissions, and hazardous substances. Corporate social responsibility is assessed in terms of ethics and anti-corruption, working conditions, and community involvement, etc. Quality audits include training and competence, document control, and customer feedback, etc.
The European Chemical Industry Council, Cefic, manages the SQAS system and ensures its integrity.
