Powder-Trans founder and chairman of the board Carl-Johan Blomqvist’s scholarship has now been awarded for the second time. The €2,000 annual scholarship was this time awarded by the scholarship committee to four recipients. This year’s recipients are Robin Laine, a student in the driver training programme at Salo Vocational Institute in Finland, and two adult logistics students in Sweden, Malin Nordman and Pernilla Olsson, both studying at the university of applied sciences SKY in Örebro. The fourth scholarship went to the logistics programme in Sataedu in Huittinen in Finland. The school may distribute the scholarship sum at its own discretion to any of its students.
In selecting this year’s recipients, the scholarship committee wished to emphasise the recipients’ great interest in the transport industry, which also in Sweden can be studied partly as distance studies, thus enabling adult studies, which two of the recipients are undertaking. Two of the recipients are furthermore women, both in Sweden, where female students in driver training and logistics studies are more common than in Finland. This year’s recipient of the part of the scholarship sum that an educational institution can decide who gets it went to Sataedu in Huittinen in Finland. The school is a well-known and respected educational institution, and already its predecessor, the Huittinen adult education centre, was a pioneer in the vocational training of drivers.
The scholarship, which was established in 2022 in honour of Powder-Trans founder and current chairman of the board Carl-Johan Blomqvist, in connection with the company’s 50th anniversary, is worth a total of EUR 2,000 and is awarded annually on the basis of applications received or the scholarship committee’s own proposals. The application period for the scholarship is in November each year and is available on Powder-Trans’ website and on the company’s social media and is also announced at logistics educational institutions in both Sweden and Finland.
The scholarship committee represents educational institutions, police authorities, media and other experts in the transport industry as well as the Blomqvist family. The members of the committee are former vice-rector Juha Jokinen from the Novida vocational institute, logistics sector trainer and former chief officer of the heavy traffic control Vesa Roima, editor-in-chief Jouni Hievanen from the industry magazine Ajolinja, transport industry business advisor and member of the Powder-Trans board Sture Holm, and from Powder-Trans managing director Fredrik Blomqvist, HR director Christian Blomqvist and chairman of the board Carl-Johan Blomqvist.
